The porecss of “finding one’s compositional voice” is an interesting one, and as you expressed, isn’t taught in the composition classroom. I did like the analogy between the composer and the piano (especially being a pianist as well). I think the next step is to discover how we really find the originality that is within us, and then, how best to express it.
